TECMA
Key Personnel
K.
Alan Russell, President
|
 |
K. Alan Russell is Co-Founder and President of
The TECMA Group, a manufacturing services company (Shelter) operating
in the U.S. and Mexico. TECMA began as a classical Mexican "Maquila"
contract manufacturer in 1985 and, once established, other
manufacturers approached Alan for help in integrating their
manufacturing into the Mexican environment. Now 20 years later, TECMA
is a well recognized entrepreneurial cross-border manufacturing
services organization with over 20 client companies operating in 10
plants in 4 Mexican cities and employing over 2,000. TECMA’s growth
and multi-cultural success has its roots in Alan’s expertise,
experience, and ambitions.
Alan, an Oklahoma farm boy, got his career "off
the ground" by learning to fly while studying aeronautics at
Southwestern Oklahoma State University. He used his pilot’s license to
"contract deliver" airplanes to South American customers. The
activity’s profits depended on Alan’s ability to hitchhike home
through Latin countries. Alan developed an affinity for, and
experience with, Latin cultures which prompted him to choose Latin
American routes when he became one of Continental Airline’s youngest
professional pilots. This decision posted Alan to Continental’s El
Paso hub and triggered his real estate ventures.
Alan’s love for flying and El Paso’s open spaces
merged into a fly-in community concept where airplanes could be taxied
directly to one’s home. The real estate development of Cielo Dorado
Air Park and other commercial projects has resulted in fifteen-years
of real estate development and site selection experience for Alan.
Continental Airlines closed its El Paso hub in the mid-1980s and Alan
chose to remain in El Paso to pursue his real estate and cross-border
business interests. The rest, as they say, is history.

He is a founding member and Past-President of the Amigo Air Sho,
U.S./Mexico border area’s largest and most profitable civic event.
Alan is also a supporter and member of the Board of Directors of the
War Eagles Air Museum in Santa Teresa, NM. The Museum's purpose
is to collect, restore and display historic aircraft in order to
encourage the awareness and appreciation of military aviation history
through educational programs, exhibits and special events.
