The Tecma Group, a Mexico Shelter Services Provider, Expands It’s Leadership Team With New Promotions

Founder K. Alan Russell to be named Chairman and CEO; longtime employees Mark Earley and Jose Grajeda to become President and COO

(EL PASO, Texas) – Today, the Tecma Group of Companies, a Mexico Shelter Services Provider headquartered in El Paso, Texas announced that effective May 4, President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) K. Alan Russell will be appointed Chairman and CEO; Executive Vice President of Finance Mark Earley will move to the role of President; and Vice President of Operations, Central Division, Jose Grajeda will become the company’s first Chief Operating Officer (COO). In their expanded roles they will work closely with Ernesto Bravo, President of Tecma’s Western Division in San Diego/Tijuana. The changes will broaden the experience and expertise within the top levels of Tecma’s management team as the company continues to grow.

In 1986, Russell co-founded Tecma with a senior mentor, Dick Azar, and a small staff. Today, the company employs more than 8,000 workers in over 55 facilities in the United States and Mexico.

“One of the great pleasures of my job is elevating trusted and proven partners in business,” said Russell.  “Mark and Jose each have more than 30 years of experience in this business. They are true bilingual, binational manufacturing and logistics experts that help Tecma, as Mexico Shelter Services Provider, to be the best in the industry..  Together with our thousands of team members across the United States and Mexico, we’ve built a special place to work.”

In addition to turning Tecma into an international Mexico Shelter Services Provider and helping U.S. companies navigate Mexico’s manufacturing industry, Russell has created a unique work culture at Tecma that prioritizes the growth and development of its employees.  Tecma is listed as one of the best places to work in Mexico by the Great Place to Work Institute, ranking 32nd on this year’s list.  This is the fourth consecutive year Tecma has been recognized.

“I’m excited to see our colleagues grow their duties within our management team,” said Toby Spoon, Executive Vice President. “Their strong work ethic and proven track record of helping our clients achieve success while reinforcing their internal teams will help Tecma continue to reach new heights.”

Earley joined Tecma in 2008.  Before becoming its Executive Vice President of Finance, he was Tecma’s CFO.  A certified CPA and corporate tax and accounting expert, Earley came to Tecma with more than 20 years of experience in manufacturing and trade, including serving as the Chief Financial Officer and Vice President of Business Development at Genpact, a global leader in business process and technology management.  He has also held key roles with Lear as well as American Axle and Manufacturing.

“It is a tremendous honor to become Tecma’s second President,” Earley said.  “Alan Russell has built a company with a reputation for quality and caring not just for its customers, but for its employees as well. It is truly a great place to work.  I look forward to working with Alan and the rest of the executive team to continue that tradition.”

Grajeda has been with Tecma since 2000 and has served as the organization’s Central Division Vice President of Operations since 2008.  An industrial engineer and maquiladora operations expert, Grajeda has helped clients in a wide range of industries establish manufacturing operations across Mexico.  He has supervised the design, construction, and maintenance of 4.5 million square feet of manufacturing space in two dozen different facilities.

“The COO position may be new, but the challenge remains the same: to make Tecma the best place to work in Mexico, and to deliver quality and value to our clients,” Grajeda said. “I am excited about this opportunity, and I am privileged to be working with such a well-respected and experienced management team.”

“I have had the pleasure of working with both Mark and Jose as Tecma has expanded into the San Diego/Tijuana region, and have been impressed with their knowledge of the U.S. and Mexico business climate,” said Paola Avila, Vice President of International Business Affairs at the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce.

Tom St. John, President of AMCOR Service Solutions and one of Tecma’s long-time clients, said, “We are not Tecma’s largest customer, but we feel that they treat us as though we are.  Tecma handles our customs. It is done seamlessly, and we go back and forth every day. We’ve upgraded our facilities three times in the last couple of years. Tecma takes care of everything without any disruption of our production.  The facilities are spotless. The employees are so well taken care of and are respected in the culture of the Tecma environment.”

In addition to its recognition as a Great Place to Work in 2018, 2017, 2016 and 2015, Tecma has been listed as the top Mexico Shelter Services Provider in Mexico for its efforts to promote gender equity and inclusion and diversity in its workplace. The company has also been recognized for its commitment to the environment, corporate social responsibility, and the well-being of its employees.
